Amid the onslaught of gentrification in the traditionally poor/black areas in London .UK Rapper/Producer Ty, as south Londoner born and bred, releases a powerful visual statement in his latest video ‘Brixton Baby’.
Spanning just over 8 minutes in length, Brixton Baby succeeds in showcasing the depth and diversity of an area famous for it’s roots in black culture. Taking a distinct ‘back seat’,in style and delivery, Ty narrates with precise, staggered observations, a place many of us considered home from his generation. Ty manages to capture the heart, spirit & identity of not just what or where but WHO Brixton is.
The sheer beauty of the complication of videos, sharp cuts, highlighting key landmarks which brought back many memories for me of The Fridge, Red Records, Twins Barbers, The Rec #basketballruled, Jamael Ukson & the iconic Brixton Tube station.
Featured as an Afro Punk exclusive, take a look and soak up the vibe that is Brixton Baby
