ClapBack Revolution: Creating space for girls of colour online: For Us, By Us!
All registered girls will receive a gift bag filled with great give-a-ways and two chances to win one of two tablets.
The event is the launch the Akeelah’s Room website and social media presence which is our outlet to continue working with girls of colour by providing a space to critically discuss popular representations which impact their concepts of self and their personal identity development. We are enough as we are!
The event will also include an open forum in which invited professional women from the GTA, can openly respond to issues of identity, career, mental and physical health and other concerns in a safer, more inclusive space for girls of colour.
The event will end with Black Girls Lime ~ A lime is defined in the Caribbean community as a party, with food, music and generally creates a socially carefree and fun space.
Registered girls will receive bus tickets for travel to the event and a chance to win one of the two tablet prizes!
