Artist Of The Week: ARLETIS

Written by on November 30, 2018

Bronx, NYC native Arletis is making a name for herself in Berlin’s growing underground R&B scene. She moved to Berlin in September 2017 after completing a graduate program at Berklee College of Music’s Spain campus. By December 2017, she connected with jazzy-hip-hop producer, the intern, and began writing and recording the material for Come Over,  her debut album.

While working on the album, she also released four experimental singles. Her debut release, Toxic, made the First on SoundCloud playlist, bringing her play-count to over 40k. A second single, Blue Jeans, made the Fresh Pressed playlist sparking the interest of labels like Noon Pacific in LA and Krekpek Records in Berlin. Both tracks were recorded in her bedroom.

There is much anticipation for the release of Come Over after the success of her singles and connecting with audiences at local shows and jam sessions.

Arletis is a singer, a songwriter, and she also plays the guitar. Her sound has been compared to Aaliyah, Faith Evans, and Mariah Carey. Her influences include Amel Larrieux, D’Angelo, Lauren Hill, Tracy Chapman, Whitney Houston, and Donny Hathaway.

Tune in Tuesday at 3:00 pm EST and Thursday at 7 pm EST for our Artist of the Week Special on Arletis
